Specialized Horizontal Infrastructure Assessment and Asset Management Capabilities
Wright Pierce is proud to formally announce the company’s new Horizontal Infrastructure Assessment Group. As municipalities and utilities face daily challenges of maintaining aging water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, Wright-Pierce has developed this specialized group to address and support these challenges. The group’s expertise is in evaluating the condition of existing infrastructure and, in turn, providing clients with a proactive plan to improve their piping systems and create strategies for long-term Asset Management.
Laurie Perkins, PE, Group Leader and PACP Master Trainer, serves as the group manager and is supported by Wright-Pierce technical experts Michael Stein, PE; Lindsey Sylvester, PE; Matthew Corbin, PE; a full team of technical and field staff; and state-of-the-art equipment and field vehicles. The group brings a specialized focus to standardization of field procedures and training; quality data collection; processing and delivery of critical asset information using GIS and other asset management platforms; and technical expertise regarding condition assessment approaches and rehabilitation technologies. Certified in pipeline/structure assessment, the team ensures compliance with industry guidelines such as those provided by the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As a result, municipalities and utilities are positioned to meet state and federal requirements, and to advocate within their organizations for funding critical horizontal infrastructure needs.
Executive Vice President and Wastewater Practice Group Leader, Paul Birkel, commented “At Wright-Pierce, we believe that sustainable infrastructure management begins with an understanding of the structural, operational, and construction/design-related impacts on buried assets so that a predictive approach can be taken to making improvements, rather than one that is reactive. Our decision to dedicate an in-house team to provide these services aligns with the growing need for infrastructure assessment services faced by our clients every day.”
