Wright-Pierce is excited to welcome yet another new team member, Matthew O’Brien, to the Transportation Group as a Senior Project Manager.
An alum from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Matt seasoned himself as a design engineer in Florida, where he gained valuable experience designing numerous roadway and stormwater projects for public and private clients around the state. Matt also brings vast traffic engineering experience performing corridor studies, signalization design, and pavement marking designs. The FDOT recognizes Matt as a prequalified professional in Minor and Major Highway Design (3.1, 3.2) as well as Signing, Pavement Marking, and Channelization (7.1) work groups. Matt also holds an Advanced Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification from the FDOT.
Matt now boasts over 18 years in the industry, having worked as Project Manager and Engineer-of-Record for numerous civil engineering projects along the east coast, many of which he completed alongside Wright-Pierce’s Florida Civil Group Leader Walt Nickel in their previous roles.
Vice President and Practice Group Leader Ryan Wingard highlights Matt’s contribution to the team: “The work we do at Wright-Pierce would not be possible without our highly competent, skillful, and professional team. Matt O’Brien is a leader who embodies these characteristics. His extensive experience working with Southeast clients and designing high-quality, sustainable infrastructure is invaluable to us not only as a firm but as a team of engineers dedicated to tailoring our services directly to our clients’ needs.”
In addition to his exceptional leadership skills and competency in the Southeast, Matt offers niche expertise to the team at Wright-Pierce. He describes his specialized focus in roadway and stormwater design as an “opportunity for growth at Wright-Pierce,” as this “diversifies the Wright-Pierce civil and transportation team, allowing us to take on new and exciting projects across the Northeast and Southeast.”
Wright-Pierce looks forward to continued growth and the enhanced ability to deliver technical excellence with staff that are familiar with your needs, your community, and your home. To contact Matt, or any of the other members of the Transportation and Civil Groups, please reach out to us here.
