Wright-Pierce is thrilled to welcome Brian Hickey, PE, BCEE, PMP, as a Senior Project Manager based in our Jacksonville, Florida, office. Brian brings over four decades of experience in the design, management, and inspection of major wastewater, water, and hazardous waste projects throughout Florida and New England.
Brian earned his M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. His academic background has supported a career that has included project and program oversight for water and wastewater projects for On Top of the World Communities, utility planning and project delivery support for Lee County Utilities, and engineering study and design efforts for a leachate disposal alternatives analysis and lift stations improvement project in Marion County. In addition to his Florida-based experience, Brian has provided extensive engineering services to clients across the Northeast, serving as project manager for wastewater treatment plant, pump station, and sewer projects.
Over the course of his career, Brian has developed a specialty in program management. His work has included managing water, wastewater, and water reuse projects through design and construction; updating utility project management manuals; assisting in the development of project tracking tools; and mentoring junior staff. His measured approach to project oversight has already made him an invaluable member of Wright-Pierce’s team in Florida, where Brian is currently leading the effort to decommission the City of Winter Haven’s Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 as part of the City’s new Water Resource Facility project. The decommissioning includes the evaluation and adaptative reuse of select existing infrastructure and design of a rehabilitated transfer pump station.
Brian is recognized for his ability to develop innovative solutions for challenging projects and maintain strong client relationships throughout the design and construction process. When asked about what Brian brings to Wright-Pierce’s Southeast One Water Group, Senior Vice President Steve Hallowell remarked, “Brian brings a practical, client-focused perspective shaped by decades of hands-on project delivery, program management, and utility experience.
